What is Confidence?

Confidence may conjure up images of the woman who walks into a room and all eyes turn to her. She leaves you feeling inspired and in awe of her confidence or feeling like you want to hide in the nearest bathroom stall.

Confidence is defined by Oxford languages as a feeling of self-assurance arising from one's appreciation of one's own abilities or qualities .

Does that really answer the question, “What is confidence”? I tend to think not, I define confidence in a much broader scope.

WHAT IS CONFIDENCE?

Confidence is a feeling.

Confidence is a sense of well-being.

Confidence is freedom.

Confidence is liberating.

Confidence is security.

Confidence is a can do attitude.

Confidence is comfort with self.

Confidence is power.

Confidence is serenity.

Confidence is peace.

Confidence is a sense of calmness.

THE GIFTS OF CONFIDENCE

Confidence takes away the unnecessary worry.

Confidence creates trust in yourself and with others.

Confidence lets you show up as you are.

Confidence helps you set your boundaries.

Confidence is the door to speaking up for yourself and your needs.

Confidence provides you space to do what feels good to you.

When you are Confidently Being You people are drawn to you. You are a natural leader and an inspiration to others.

People sense you have something they want and they will get close to you to find out your secret to moving easily through life.

Life falls into place when you authentically show up as you.

People watch you handling challenges with grace, going after the new job, traveling solo or whatever it is that lights your heart on fire. They are curious and want to know how you make life look easy.

Confidence is not boisterous, cocky, mean or deceitful. A person with confidence is secure and doesn’t have anything to prove. They like themselves and in turn others also like them. No false pretenses, no big production or need to call attention to themselves.

STRUGGLING WITH PERSONAL CONFIDENCE

I struggled with personal confidence and self-doubt most of my life. I wish I had the guidance and the knowing that what I was thinking and feeling was normal.

We all feel insecure and uncertain during different periods of our life.

In a way I am grateful for my suffering as it led me on a journey to you and other women that desire to feel better about themselves.

In this podcast episode with Kristi Huss I share my thoughts on confidence and becoming confident as an adult.

Confidence is not for a select few, it is available to all of us.
